F1, F2, F3, etc. refer to fillial generations. The original breeding pair are generation P, this is for a new line. Their offspring are F1. If you breed two related F1s from the same parents (born in the same litter or later on) together, then they are F2 and so on.
If you get an F1 from one source and an F1 from another source, totally unrelated, then their offspring are once again F1.
The only time these notations really come into play with captive reptiles are with rare lines or new mutations for records. ----- http://www.GilbertBoas.com/
