Despite the successful lobbying efforts against HB 2414 (a bill pertaining to hunting from public right of ways), lobbying to successfully amend the bill to exclude the collection of reptiles and amphibians, etc, and the death of HB 2414 in Senate Committee, the House and Senate passed HB 12 with riders attached that include the original language of CSHB 2414.

Even though HB 12 is a sweeping Parks Reform Bill, it has been substationally amended to include riders - bills that were otherwise amended or defeated on the House Floor. Consequently, HB 12 should be vetoed. To not veto HB 12 sends the message that such dirty politics (the attachment of riders of otherwise defeated legislation) is "ok". Let me assure you that such dirty politics is why America continues to feel disenfranchised . . . and why America no longer trusts our political "leaders".

Therefore, a veto of HB 12 represents a "vote" to restore some small part of the trust of the American public for our elected leaders.
