Hello Everyone!

Well, this is definitely one of our MOST anticipated litters of the season! We have been eagerly anticipating this litter from before the breeding season even started and here it finally is!

We aquired our male Aztec from Bob and Andrew Potts back in 2005 and have been patiently growing him up. This season was the first time we tried breeding him and he courted enthusiastically with a couple of our girls. One of them was a female Salmon Hypo Boa.

After a few weeks, she ovulated and we started counting down the days. Mom swelled up full of babies and was HUGE! Honestly, I'm surprised she didn't give birth earlier being as big as she was.

I'm actually currently back in California visiting my parents and just flew out on Wednesday. I was hoping she would have the babies before I left so that I could see them and take pictures of them. Of course my plane left in the afternoon and she had them later on that evening!

I'm disappointed I didn't get to see them in person but I'll have plenty of opportunities to check them out when I get back! She ended up having 20 BIG, healthy babies and 4 slugs. Of the 20 babies, we ended up with 6.3 Normals, 2.2 Hypos, 0.1 Aztec, and 1.5 Hypo Aztecs!!!!! The total number of Aztecs was a little bit less than the odds but the number of Hypo Aztecs is fantastic!

Sean was able to take some photos of them which we wanted to share with everyone. From what I can see in the photos, the pattern on the Hypo Aztecs was not altered at all by the hypo gene like it is in Motleys. The coloration also just GLOWS! I think this is because of how deep colored the regular Aztecs are. The male Hypo Aztec is much darker looking than the females and there is one female in particular that is just amazing she almost has a T Positive look to her!

The normals and Hypos in the litter are also spectacular looking! All three normal females have cool circle-back ladder-tail patterns and the Hypos are exceptionally clean patterned and high colored.

We couldn't be happier with the outcome of this litter and I can't wait to get back and see them in person! Unfortunately, I'll have to wait a few weeks before I'll be able to do that!

Here are the photos of them...

Here she is again!

Check out those tails!!

And a normal with a regular Hypo - not too looking bad either!

I'm exhausted and jet lagged so I'm off to bed!

Thanks for looking!
