I'm sorry I missed the earlier discussion about all the different types of boas classified by their breeders as T 's as I believe there is some mis-information concerning the T gene in general.



The University of Minnesota is one of the leading research facilities for albinism in this country and while their research centers around humans, the basic priciples, definitions and descriptions remain the same providing you understand the difference in the way reptiles produce color as opposed to humans.

Here is a general link from the University of Minnesota that I've felt provides the most information in a way that is understandable for most. It really helps clarify the mis-information concerning "eye color" in albinos. There are many other sources of information I've used to do the research as to what I have with the Nicaraguan T 's and I encourage others to do the same. The more crrect information we have and the better ecucated we become....the better our hobby will be.



The section titled, "HOW DO WE CLASSIFY OCULOCUTANEOUS ALBINISM" provides a very brief history of the "DOPA" test and why it's no longer considered a valid test and is no longer used.

The section titled, "TYROSINASE RELATED OCULOCUTANEOUS ALBINISM" provides a very brief description of the "NULL" gene and the "LEAKY" gene and may help explain some of what was previously discussed in the former post.



I make no claims of being an expert but I can read and have spoken to people that are. They'll be the first to tell you that the "Science" of genetics is constantly evolving and having an open mind is a neccessity but some scientific principles have to be accepted until proven otherwise by science and not marketing or opinion.
