A cause for death?

Hi... my cuz told me (I am in no way shape or form cameleon smart. The basics... if that.) that a cameleon looses the will to live if it doesn't breed. I had serious doubts once the words came out of his mouth. But he is older with longer keeping experience and has had a cameleon before. So I thought I would ask the pros.
