Looking at it as a buyer - it would depend.
Did she lay this season - if so when and what was her prelay weight? With just a couple months until cooling starts I'm looking to see if she be able to get back up to a healthy weight (without power feeding) for breeding or will she have to sit out the season. If she doesn't look good for the upcoming season I'd rather invest the $1K for a subadult virgin that would just as likely go next season. I'm also looking at age, breeding history, pattern, wobble factor and over all health and feeding.
All things considered as a buyer of a 1500 gram female spider I would likely spend:
$2000-$2200 on a virgin
$1800-$2000 on a proven breeder that dropped early in the year or 05/06 season
$1600-$1800 on a proven breeder that dropped late in the year 06/07 season
As a seller I would price them slightly higher and negotiate a win win situation. ----- Tosha
