Lumps near vent???????????

I have five snakes now burms to retic and boas. Now I know the only way to possitvely check sex is to probe, and I have also heard that some times you can tell by the size of the tail and how big the spurs are. Now with all that in mind the other day I was looking at one of my new baby burms and I was running my fingers down either side of it's body and felt lumps on each side right by the vent, what is that????
