That purple lady guyana in the above post is named “Violet.”
I've noticed the dramatic color changes in imports as well. More interestingly, I often notice a huge color change after treatments for parasites.
Here's are two pictures of an imported female suri after completing my standard regimen of dewormers. The top one is within the first day or two of having her. The one on the bottom with the shed is after all of the treatments.
I feel that she lost some of her red hue but that her pattern became more crisp. I also notice a difference in the texture of the skin. It almost seems as if there’s some sort of film on it beforehand. I can only guess that this is from parasites. Once they’re eliminated, everything seems to “clear up.”
