I have 2 large colonies of African Soft Furred (ASF) rats in addition to my other rat breeding colonies and my 3 mice colonies (I really hate mice). First generation of the ASF were a bit more agressive than regular rats IMHO. But by 3rd or 4th generation, they have calmed down considerably.
Not all picky eaters will take ASF, but many will. I tend to use them to get the picky eaters eating well and then I can make the transition to regular rats.
Also, you need to be careful if you plan to sell the snake you are feeding ASF to - the new owner may not be able to find them in their location.
Good luck! ----- Alice Cobb
