Almost every source recommends feeding frozen/dead mice or rats to insure adequate nutrition while minimizing the chance of the snake being harmed by the live prey. However, a recent conversation with a very smart owner left me with a different recommendation and philosophy. She said that feeding live prey insures the snake's natural constricting behaviors and keeps the snake's muscle tone firm. She said that only feeding dead prey leaves the snake's muscle tone "mushy". What do others think of this recommendation? Thanks. [ Hide Replies ]
