One of the best things about the Monster Tail bloodline is they have LOTS of babies. I mean lots of babies. Here is a litter from a seven year old Monster Tail Hypo from the original Monster Tail females very first litter:

She is the gravid in this shot and still looking pretty stinking nice if I say so myself. Here she is looking to protect those babies yesterday afternoon:

I love how their little heads point up like periscopes:

I had to move them off the shelf for a better look. Normally I just leave them for a while but I was pretty anxious to see these puppies! Now that's a pile of babies!

I counted them twice. 49 on the first count and 50 on the second. It has been a long time since I had a litter this big. Four years I guess and it was this female mother, the original Monster Tail, that did it. 53 babies in 2003. More Hypos than not. More Jungles than not. Nothing to complain about. There is one really really dark one in the litter which is perplexing as neither parent is dark at all. I don't know what to make of that. There are a few really nice ones in the mess:



Now we have to wait for them to shed.
