Actually, I think the defanging thing is a myth.. Most vemonous snakes (I know the naja's are included - but not sure about the king cobra) shed their fangs. They actually are growing several fangs at one time in various stages.. so if you pull one out, another will replace it pretty fast.

Some people will have "garage or alley" type operations on venomous animals to either cut the venom duct or sometimes even remove the organ and duct that produce and deliver the venom. This creates what is commonly refered to as a "venomoid" and will certainly stir up a heated debate on most any forum. This is not a fail safe method either, and is, at least in my opinion disgusting and abusive to the animal.
