yeah, that's great. Don't worry guys, its just a T.V. show! Fantastic.
OK, so I know, and YOU know, and anybody reading this OUGHT to know that the danger level in keeping and handling a healthy, well-kept, CB Red Tail is about on par with handling your DOG, but the problem with people and snakes isn't what WE know, its what they DON'T know. And having a TV show sensationalize the "danger" of snakes ISN'T HELPING. PERIOD. Because people are largely ignorant of reptiles (ESPECIALLY snakes, and of them, ESPECIALLY boids), because people are largely afraid of what they're ignorant of, and because people are inclined to believe whatever tells them their fears are legitimate, false information about snakes is NOT good. Why? Because then people are inclined to believe it, true or not. THEN they hear that Joe Herper has a red tail boa next door, and then they complain to their legislature. Then the legislature passes a law or forces Joe Herper to have the red tail evacuate the premises. Or have you not noticed the increasing amount of anti-pet legislation going around?
Don't worry, though. Its just a TV show.
