What do you do, wait?

Considering all morphs came from wild-stock, or wild-type, what is best to do, wait until its an adult to see if the color changes (for better or worst)? How does one see a co-dominance or a recessive trait in a "out-of-africa" baby? I've seen some halloweens and they don't look much different from the one I pictured. If they are different, please explain.
