True, Baby boas seem flighty and even nippy at first. I find that if you hold them often even if it's just tree times a week or so for 10 min to a half hour they not only calm down but many learn to enjoy being held. It takes Time. I'm holding a baby longicauda boa as i'm typing this. She has bit me once but with daily interaction she has calmed way down. I Do Have several snakes in my collection that do enjoy being held. My two and a half year old son even holds them "supervised" for up to a half hour at times. The more time they spend in a cage the more wild they will be. The more time you spend with them the more tame they will become and also a way better pet! You can do little things that will help also. Like put a cheep durty t-shirt of yours in their cage for a while. Wash out their cage with a little hand soap and water then use that same soap to wash your hands before pulling them out. Get them used to your smell then get them used to you. I've been bit 3 times in my 28yrs of having pet snakes and all were by snakes that were new to me and I new to them. Dogs aren't so differant. But I've been bit by many many more dogs!
