All of my girls dropped their eggs in May and are already back up to their pre-lay weight. If I did have one lay late though, I would still feed her as usual and if she was back up to size by fall, great, and if not, I might just go for a late breeding. I'm sure the more seasoned breeders will chime in for you too! 
>>Maybe I'm thinking wrong but if you have a female lay eggs in, say mid july, breeding usually goes on in late Nov to Dec? How do you get the weight back on her between seasons or do you skip a season?
