At the point you have nothing to worry about but yes the snake will be able to smell them.



I would just exercise some extreme caution when your Retic hits 12' plus. You don't want to have to explain what happened to the family kitty cat if she happens to get out. Right now I'd be more concerned the dogs (or even a cat) could really harm or kill the snake. They wouldn't do it out of meliciousness but more in trying to play. But once she's a "big" snake then the game changes.

Just a little FYI: I have a small cat (shes like 5lbs) who by my own fault has been able to sneak into the snake room. Once when I was feeding and was not aware she was there. Needless to say I saved her furry little butt from a 14 foot female Retic. I've also save her from a 11 foot Burmese.



Again right now worry that the dog /cat could harm the snake unintentionally as your little jem is still small.
