Ball pythons are shy snakes. Most of the time they hide anyway. One challange with keeping ball pythons is trying to give them enough room but not so much that they feel uncomfortable and refuse to eat because they feel insecure.
I keep most of my balls in plastic containers, shoe, sweater and blanket boxes. A 20gallon "long" would house an averaged sized adult no problem. In these plastic containers, they eat fine, shed fine and grow fine. Plus they are cheap lightweight and easy to clean.
Hope this helps
