Larger than a 20 gallon aquarium in my opinion will give you too much of a headache maintaining proper temps and humidity. Best to go with a plastic cage. Not a fan of Visions myself, there are a good number of quality companies. Top three under personal rating would be Animal Plastics, Proline, or Boaphile. Though you won't be able to get one right away as they have to be built after ordered. I would get something though to separate the two, as it seems you have your boas together. Not a good idea. So at least pick up another 20 gallon. They'll serve as good quarantine cages for future acquisitions once you get your larger plastic cages.
If you're not 100% sure what the substrate you are using is, and it has a strong smell, I'd dump it. Good safety is paper towels. Not the best to look at, but by far the most effective. (More absorbent than newspaper, though that would work well too.) ----- http://www.GilbertBoas.com/
