Snake keepers tend to be minimalists when it comes to caging, especially in the US. There are good arguments for having cages that aren't huge. One is simply this: caging should be able to fit through a doorway in case it needs to be moved in/out of a room.



For that reason, keep the cage a size that you can remove from the room. Or, use two halves that bolt together to make one large cage. Boaphile Plastics sells cages that bolt together.



If you have hides, large cages are fine for adult boas. Babies like security, and so a small cage makes some sense for babies.
