The females seem to be laying eggs, but I haven’t been able to observe any copulation until the end of last week. I saw them copping between the bark pieces a few times over the last weekend. It looked like the real deal, but I didn’t get a pic. I’m keeping an eye on that female. Here are some recent pics.

As you can see they are extremely miserable in their tiny trough. Look at the bug-eyes on the one. No doubt suffering from permanent nervousness, induced by their natural enemy (me) lurking above them. Actually, the one has large eyes and is very alert when I shove a camera and flash in its face. I’m not 100% sure of its sex. Robin sent him/her to me last month, so I have 1.3.1 caudolineatus now.



The depth of the substrate is only about twice their total length. These are tiny monitors. I reckon that is deep enough, since I’ve never heard of anyone providing their charges with substrate as proportionally deep. If anyone has their 2' lizards on 4’ of dirt, I’d love to see it. Cheers
