RE: flag stones?

I've used flat pieces of stone to great advantage in desert set ups. As long as you can maintain the humidity needed I'm sure a boa would find a warm stone under the belly pleasant.



I keep almost all my reptiles on newspaper - have for over 10 years. Particularly my colubrids because it seems like the poop every other day. It just makes cleanup easier and they don't care and I don't care. When I do educational shows and I have time I like to try and set up something a little more "natural" looking for the day.



I will also say that even if you use newspaper, other cage decor like rocks, driftwood, etc. can give you a nice look while still making it easy to keep clean.
