Possible solution

I remember reading somewhere about someone using black paint designed for barbeques to paint halogen bulbs and create there own heat emmitter. Supposedly the paint was rated to withstand extreme heat. This would basically give you a cheap alternative to a ceramic heat emmitter.



As a disclaimer, I have never actually tried this, don't know if it works or is potentially dangerous, and I am not recommending it.





I would like to know if anyone has actually done something like this or has some ideas about how it may work. I could see it how it might work, but I would also be fearful that the paint may restrict the amount of heat leaving the bulb and overheat the bulb. Maybe burn it out, or shorten the life of the bulb.
