One thing I see for sure is that you need to get the basking site temperature up to more like 130 degrees F, and cover the majority of the screen top with a garbage bag or something that will stop the loss of humidity. Be careful not to get it too close to a light or heat source, though, for safety reasons. "holygouda" had already mentioned those things but you might've overlooked 'em.
If your room gets a fair amount of traffic you might consider taping newspaper or something to the outside of the tank for a few days. This should give it some peace and might also deter you from peering at it too much. Once it gets settled in you can remove a lil' bit of the covering at a time.
Just to let you know, you're perfectly normal. Most keepers want to handle & enjoy their captives ASAP. It's natural. We just have to fight that urge.
