?Why do they change their colors?

First, I am Zindy and I am new. I write from Germany and hope you will excuse my terrible english.

The question I like to ask is "Why do some kinds of boas (in my case Hog Island Boas) change their colors from dark to light? I can watch it closely at my own Hog Island Boas but I don't know the reason for that. Can somebody help me with this question?
