There is really nothing wrong with pine these days as long as it's been "kiln dried" which burns off the resins that are toxic. Nowadays, store bought pine shavings should all be the kiln dried stuff (& usually it's labeled as such). It's if you buy raw stuff from lumber/saw mills that's never been treated that you might have problems with toxicity. I think the most you have to worry about from pine is too much dust. some brands screen out the worst of the dust and other brands don't seem to do that. ----- _____
