No, this isn't a stupid question. In fact there are a lot of people that don't know the answer, evidently.
Some people say that in the wild, burmese pythons are diurnal and some people say they're nocturnal. Personally, I don't know myself because I've never been to any of there homelands & studied them. All I can say is that every burmese python I've ever kept in captivity was basically nocturnal.
(1) For one thing, you've got an albino & they're usually more sensitive to light.
(2) I most always feed mine in the early evenings. Have I trained them to be nocturnal? Don't know, but don't think so.
(3) There's usually less traffic in the house or room at night, thereby possibly giving them a sense of security to move about.
(4) Generally, our temperatures are more consistant between day/night so they don't have to wait for the sun to warm them enough to give them the energy to hunt.
Just a few rambling thoughts on what could possibly make a diuranl snake become nocturnal. But then again, they could be nocturnal to begin with.
Have a good one!
