Live Terrarium vs Fake Plants etc

I have a 3 foot Columbian Boa and I am very interested in a live terrarium because i love growing plants. I am just curious as to if this is appropriate for my boa and the pros/cons. Please post your views and/or links to good informational guides to live terrariums.
