cypress looks better by far. it also will hold up to the moisture better than aspen.
as far as dust is concerned, both are dusty if they are dry but aspen is by far more dusty than cypress.
have any of you ever had to clean a feeder mouse tank at a petstore? well, when a liquid(water or urine) is added to the aspen it packs down real well and then molds up very quickly. i've never had aspen get moldy unless some veggies are left in the tank too long or i discover some turds under logs or other tank decor.
and at last i never did and still dont understand why people use aspen to house their snakes(typically corns, milks and rats)...i know it works...there are lots of people breeding their snakes on the stuff...
