well it has been 58 days and the egg has pipped. it is still confusing alittle but more on that in a minute. as you all remamber i had a lag female lay her second clutch ever for me and i recieved the weiredest surprise of my life. after taking all your advise i did get in touch with a herp vet and emailed him some pics. his honest opinion was that he hadnt seen any thing like it. his guess was that she passed 2 good eggs first then some how 3 more follicles in various stages of development got stuck in the oviduct and then got twistes in the duct when the tried to lay them. so she did pass part of her oviduct. i believe that she will not be able to breed again. i was very sad since she was my first ball. i am happy to report that she is back eating and deficating with no signs of problems.now here is where is gets interesting. the two eggs i got from her started off great thenone died at like day 20 i left it just incase it was just moldy on the outside but it was dead. well the only remaining egg pipped on thursday night and i got just a glimps of the babies head. it is very pale, i knew immediatly that it wasnt a mojave. it is a pastel or superpastel not sure yet.this is my confusion, my mojave was the only male i put with her this past season. they bred like crazy. my pastel was with her the season before last. is it possiblr for her to retain that long. here is another hitch in the whole thing,4 seasons ago she was with a pied and made a nice 4 egg clutch of het pieds all looked normal. now fast forward to this most recent one egg clutch where obviously dad is pastel and mom looks normal but baby looks super pastel. is is possible to have just a really faded pastel that looks super but isnt. i dont have good pics yet since the bugger is still sitting in the egg. i will post pics of this baby compaire to pics of last years pastels from same dad different mom. below are pics of the bad eggs that sparked the whole story. and please forgive me for the long story.
