Quite a few people have posted about their females retaining sperm for multiple years -- so one year isn't that odd. She could very easily have used the pastel's sperm instead of the mojave. And yes, some pastels come out with very light heads -- but keep in mind that baby balls always come out very light and then darken up as their melanin finishes coming in during the first few days, then they shed their skin and reveal what they truly look like.
