I have noticed when looking at video of outdoor markets in 3rd world countries (and seeing a few myself). Those markets are all packed full of rare, and quickly disappearing species, every day, alive and or dead, for sale to anyone who wants them. The authorities dont care, they are walking around sampling the smorgasbord themselves.
So I figure if you combined in a country such as Thailand all outdoor markets, all petstores, and restraunts, combined with the instances of locals eating rare species in their home countries you would see thousands per day being killed or taken from the wild.
In countries outside their borders, you may see a handful every 6 months of these species, so what does it really matter when you see 20 black waters in the last 5 years available, nothing. It doesnt accomplish saving or even helping to save the species, the country that has them as wildlife needs to save them within its borders.
