I just wanted to add some input. I breed Retics and I can say that their temperment is what you make of it. Now, when breeding, male retics will get alot more agressive than other snakes. If keeping more than 1 male, make sure they are separate. (June 99' Reptiles Magazine had a wonderful article on Reticulated Pythons) If the male smells the other male, it will cause a problem not only with you handling it, but with any cagemates, including a female. Proper frequent handling will decrease its hostility, but always remember, this is a snake. I have a male that would not strike if his life depended on it, (figure of speech) and I have others that will bite, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Now I know I said retics are what you make of them, but they are not programmable. Some biters and agressive snakes will always be that way. As far as growth rate, retics have the ability to get up to 10-12' in a year or more. That is not necessarily the best thing for the snake IMHO. I usually feed to get my males up to 7' in a year, and 8' in females. I try to keep my burms about a foot shorter. I currently to not breed GTP's so I will leave that one for other breeders.
