This is something I was thinking about today -- if all goes well, I should hatch some clowns and g-stripes this spring (if the odds gods decide they like me). The clown male and het clown female are mine and totally unrelated, so I can continue to pair them in the future. I would like to hold back some of their daughters (whether clown or het), but don't like the idea of breeding them back to their father. The same goes for the g-stripe -- I own the het female, but the g-stripe male is coming here on breeding loan, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed to hatch at least a baby male g-stripe to keep. But again, I don't like the idea of breeding him back to his mother. I know this is done pretty often with no real ill effects, but I would rather only breed unrelated animals to keep producing strong animals and vary genetic lines (in the case of known morphs, not dinking projects that obviously need to be line bred to be proved/disproved).

So my question is, has anyone ever traded animals with someone else that were exactly the same morph, gender, age, weight, and quality just to get an unrelated animal?
