It just helps to keep track of how your females are progressing and how close they are to ovulating. It may also help you feel them easier if you use a paper towel in your hand while she slides through. It makes her slide much smoother and makes it easier to feel the follicles IMO. You are not going to really feel the follicles until they get to a decent size. I don't even bother checking until december and I start cooling towards the end of october.
