Since you have a temp gun - take the heat rope off the thermostat, run it full for a few minutes and then check the temperature at varying lengths of the rope - they should all read the same - if not - then call vision for replacement rope. The rope is fairly flexible but you should also make sure you don't have any really sharp bends or that it's resting on another piece.
