I don't mist the hide but mist the whole cage. My snake has fed whether in shed or not. It switched to frozen the first time I offered it also. If it wants to eat, it will. I wouldn't make it a special point to mist the hide unless you are using an open screen top. You need guages to monitor the humidity level during shed!
