Sorry I missed this post before - yes balls will have a tendency to change coloring - due to diet, stress, hormones, bad sheds, etc. I find that a lot of my rescues that have been kept poorly and particularly those found out wandering tend to come in with a ghostlike appearance - but with some TLC - they will return to "normal" coloring.

Here is a picture of one of my rescues found in a yard last year:



About 6 weeks later and a few good meals and a shed:



I'm not sure how much the pet shop is asking for the snake - but I'm assuming if you are making payments - then its probably more than the snake is worth - there are usually lots of big normal males that need homes in rescues check around your area.
