In my experience, providing full spectrum lighting has improved the captive conditions of my burms. They seem more alert and active. However, it's important to cycle that light on and off.

>>The simple answer regarding the UV lighting is...it depends.
>>I have had some that loved having the light. And that goes back to when I had a herp room with lots of western exposure windows where there was lights of natural sunlight. Some burms seemed to do better with the lights on in their enclosure.
>>So could have cared less. I know have my snakes in a room with no natural light, and have stopped using UV lighting due to my ever skyrocketing electric bill, and none of the snakes seem to care. As a matter of fact, some of them...not just my burms but my boas as well, have responded better to no lighting.
>>I guess the best thing to do is let the snakes answer your question. Use an inexpensive fixture, and install some UV lighting, and experiment.
>>Let us know if you do, and if so, what your observations were. ----- My Website
