My adult female is about the same way but I think she's just recently gotten that way due to maturing and my gentleness with her.

Her previous owners said she was handleable but didn't like to be handled. Most of the time, though, she comes to check me out lookin' for food because I've got her on a bit of a diet 'cause she's so dang fat.
