nile monitor 2 eggs

i have a 4 ft nile that i got from the police dept. it was roaming in someones front yard,i have had it for about 6 to 8 weeks, and is doing well.when i got home today there were 2 eggs in the water bowl,was wondering if females can produce unfertile eggs without being bred, like i said it was found wondering the streets, so i know no history on the animal, well, now i know it is female. any insight would help, thanks
