I use the pellets as a substrate for my ASF and they do eat it from time to time. It doesn't realy hold much in the way of protine for regular rats and mice though. If your looking to feed on the cheap, I use a good puppy chow mixed with the 'el cheapo cheerieos (both reg and honny)and unsalted sunflower seeds. I do buy treats now and then but that's only because I am a big softy and I feel bad that they will be food one day.
