Veileds are generally considered a good newbie species as they are pretty much all cbb, we know a lot more about their husbandry, and they are pretty tolerant of mistakes. After veileds, panthers. How big is your cage? Both those species need at least 3'x2'x5' IMHO. Don't get a tiny baby. They can be hard to feed, stress and dehydrate easily.
