It's all about how they are socaliazed. Any dog can be mean, any dog can be a sweetheart. The pit I had from 2 months to 4 yrs of age (she is with my ex now), she was from top-fighting stock, she was a runt and was going to be a 'target' dog for the others to learn on, my ex 'rescued' her (for a price) and she became our pet (I *do not* know the guy that was fighting/breeding, not my thing at all.) Anyways, we socialized her around our friend's kids, our parent's cats, the neighbor's dogs, friend's dogs both small and large. She never had any aggressive tendencies. She was trusted to be off leash in a house with 2 cats and there were never any problems, she was always just curious about them but that was it. I knew a guy that had a shepard/boxer mix that was not socialized and killed a cat that got into it's back yard... it's all about how the dog is raised IMO.
Ok, getting off topic..
