OK, so you have a Hovabator?
If so, the one I had was too small and low for a good clutch of stuck together eggs. They do have a retrofit riser, that I am sure would probably get the job done for one clutch. I use vermiculite and periolite as substrate. I add water to the mixture, but very little, and keep it moist by adding water weekly. 88-90 degrees is about the normal range that people use, and on the humid side.
