National Herpetological Committee note, this is a name as an example
Organized committee representing the Reptile Industry –
Mission -Keeps on file records and facts pertaining to all facets of the reptile industry -Keeps members up to date with all state and federal laws -Unites as many herpetological clubs as possible as members -Keeps a record of membership -Semi annual newsletter for members -Has a political presence as a group -Consults with all state and federal legislative committees on herpetological related issues and topics -Professional approach to broadening our reputation and our concerns -Represents our industry in Washington when needed and or in any State where laws would or could jeopardize the Reptile Industry -Represents our views and thoughts about the reckless acts of those that undermine our code of ethics such as releasing pythons and boas into our native habitat with disregard to the effects caused for every facet of reptile owners in this country
This needs to be a newly established political committee that brings all of the established groups in the Reptile Industry together “on board” as a political group. We need a strong political voice that represents us together on state and federal issues. If recognized as a group with political intent and agenda to represent the Reptile Industries concerns and rights our voices can be heard as a united group of business owners as well as the many enthusiast and hobbyist throughout the country.
These laws being proposed establish a domino effect that is eventually if we are not careful going to minimize our concerns and rights to nothing more than a minority perspective based on a majority’s ignorance.
We need representatives that represent us and our concerns and needs politically. Our words and our actions must be thought-out carefully and we must represent ourselves professionally.
Note, Even if we do weather this current storm politically state or federal laws will attempt again to take away our rights as they have in the past. I am proposing this idea as a way to protect our rights going forward. I am not saying this is the way this should be done but I am suggesting that a National Board or Committee representing all of us would be more effective and on top of issues such as these. We are to my knowledge a fragmented group that needs a cohesive structure in order for us to be heard and taken seriously. This is merely a “rough” draft of quick ideas which needs a lot of fine tuning but the idea is the point.
Can this be achieved? Does anyone want to? Comments, thoughts, ideas, refinements, suggestions, all welcome.
Sincerely, Kyle Royal Variations Ltd.
