Hey Tom you had asked me what kind of lilies I fed my chucks and desert iggies and if all of them were edible because you have giant patches of them.
I only have common "day lilies in my yard that I planted and have spread all over, and day lillies are FINE for them to eat they LOVE them.
*** BUT ......... and other can jump in here if they know anything else but I have read that.... the TIGER lily is toxic
these are usually found growing wild along roadsides and in fields , even yards, so make sure you check out what you have growing in those big patches.
********* Here is a paragraph on them ***************
The toxic species of lilies include easter lily, tiger lily, stargazer lily, Asiatic hybrid lily (Lilium sp.) (especially toxic/deadly to CATS.)
Common day lily, and early daylily (Hemerocallis sp.) Other plants we commonly refer to as lilies, such as cala lily and peace lily, are not toxic.
The flowers tend to be the most toxic part of the plant, but easter lilies have toxins in the leaves as well.
