How could you ever say they aren't? the definition of pet is: An animal kept for amusement or companionship. Explain to me how they DON'T fit into that? Even if you refuse to recognize the definition, MOST people consider a pet being any animal (even fish) that they keep which gives them comfort and makes life more enjoyable. If you only keep them for the purpose of making money, don't name them just give them an ID code, etc., then they aren't pets, they're livestock. A snake can be both, depending on what you keep them for! And just because "pet" in Florida law might not include them, it doesn't mean they aren't pets!!!! The government will often give a word a "legal" definition for the purposes of not having to explain in EVERY section what that word pertains to! You could look up every state, and many will have a different "legal" definition to pertain to the animals that the law was meant to regulate in that state! | ||
