Posted by: MadAxeMan at Fri Feb 22 20:27:17 2008 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by MadAxeMan ] I wish all this global warming crap were true (oh I'm sorry "Climate Change" i forgot they changed the phrase to avoid the negative connotation of the original...a typical left wing...oh sorry "progressive" trick.). I wish to God that it would get warm enough that I who lives in North central Fl....north of where the burms supposedly range...could just take my durian trees and my toad fruit trees and my baccaurias and all these other trees I work with from where burms actually come from and just plant them outside unprotected. But I can't because it gets too cold here and they would so freakin die. What these geniuses ought to do is go look at a usda plant zone map and then they would see that south fl is zone 10 and sf ca is probably zone 8 and then ask people if the zone 10 regions in fl. and ca are created equal. They are not you can grow coconuts here in fl in zone 10 and into parts of zone 9 they cannot grow coconuts in L.A. and parts of L.A. are zone 11. You see although it apparently doesn't get to cold(below freezing) in the winter for coconuts in L.A. it doesen't quite get all that warm either and it is to damp in the winter as well. I have heard that the same is true for citrus as well in some parts of ca.that are zone 9 which would theoretically be within range for citrus but once again while it may not get cold enough to kill it it doesn't get quite warm enough for it to thrive either. Thank god these morons aren't in charge of the nations food supply they'd be trying to grow pinapples in kansas and we'd all starve. [ Hide Replies ]
