Snakes ARE stupid!!! But we still love em anyways. If given a hot surface they will stay there and burn themselves.
I have both Helix DBS1000 and Spyder Robotics Herpstat PRO units. Around a dozen Helix and 4 Herpstat Pros. All have worked perfectly for me. Not a problem. I like them each for different applications.
Helix - great for baby and growup applications where night drop is not necessary/needed and only one controller needed for a rack/stack.
Herpstat Pro - AWESOME for breeding, has built in night drop and four seperate channels. I can use one herpstat Pro in place of four Helix OR, break up a rack into zones with each controlled by one channel. Much more precise temps that way. None of that old bottom tub cold, top tub hot problem any more. Alsoi herpstat Pro can adjust both up and down in tenth degree increments (10th of a degree is a bit overkill but??)
One herpstat Pro is about the same as two helix with night drop or three without. Either way if you have multiple heating zones, is more cost effective AND it comes with much longer probes.
>>Either will do you well for any herp-related application. Reliability is the main concern and is what you should make your decision on. Both have a great track record. >> >>Remember that snakes aren't stupid - they know how to thermoregulate. Doesn't matter if the controller is off a degree, it just can't fail ON. >>----- >>Mark ----- Thanks,
